Our Saints in the making series - We often think that the Saints were people who lived a long time ago or had lives massively different from ours. However, God raises up Saints in every generation and they come from all sorts of backgrounds.
In the Saints in the making series we look at the heroic lives of recent men and women who are on their way to being recognised as Saints in the Catholic Church. This is Saints in the Making.

Blessed Solanus Casey - A Reflection
Saturday Jul 29, 2023
Saturday Jul 29, 2023
Light from Light is back with a short reflection by Br Thomas Thérèse OP on the wonderful Blessed Solanus Casey. Bl Solanus was a Capuchin friar who lived a humble life of service to all who came to him for help. He was, as the Capuchin Master General at the time of his death said, “an extraordinary example of a true Capuchin and a replica of St. Francis.”
Bl Solanus has much to teach us about the Christian life, showing us we can bring the presence of God to others. His feast day is celebrated on the 30th July. Blessed Solanus Casey, pray for us.

What a 12th century monk has to say about friendship
Friday Jan 13, 2023
Friday Jan 13, 2023
Aelred was a talented man in many ways. He was an author, preacher, theologian, leader and diplomat. These many skills meant Aelred rose quickly in the court of King David of Scotland. Aelred lived a comfortable life but he gave up all material goods to follow God's call to become a monk. It is in this life that Aelred found joy surpassing all material goods. This skilled man gave his life to serving God and his brothers, eventually becoming Abbot of the Monastery of Rievaulx. Aelred was a loving brother and inspirational father to his fellow monks.
To mark the Feast Day of Saint Aelred we recorded a video discussing Aelred's life and what is arguably his greatest work - Spiritual Friendship.
